HOW THE BODY WORKS: EYES HEART DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Blood comes from the Right Atrium, Through the Tricuspid Valve, and into the right ventricle, then through the Pulmonary Valve and into the lungs where it takes a load of oxygen. The Pulmonary nerve takes blood to the Left Atrium then through the Mitral Valve and last to the Left Ventricle. Now let’s talk about the digestive system. When you eat food it goes in your mouth and the food is chewed into bits. .After, the salivary gland makes the bits of food slippery so the food can go down the esophagus. Seconds later it travels through the stomach and into the small intestine. Little while later it is in your large intestine, after that the food goes in your rectum and down to the anus.  The eye is about the size of a ping pong ball . The pupil is in the middle of the eye, the iris is surrounding the pupil. Therefore the window to the eye is the Cornea. The cornea  focuses light as it passes through.Did you know the iris is behind the cornea, it is the thing that makes the eyes colourful.. In the middle of the iris is a black circle called  the pupil, the iris has muscles attached to it to control how much light comes in from your pupil.
The pupil is an opening to let the light come in,
the more light there is the smaller your pupil is. Blinking protects your eyes and gives moisture.
Light passes through the lens. Lens take the light back where the seeing really starts to happen.
They are attached the fibre muscles which is attached to the ciliary.
The ciliary muscles help change the lens making it focus a lot or less.
To see something near the ciliary muscle make the lens become thick,
to see something far the ciliary muscles make the lens thinner.
Behind the lens is the retina which is the back wall of the eyeball.  Lens focus the light onto the Retina. The Retina has lots of light sensitive cells called rods and cones, there are 120 million rods and 7 million cones in each eye WOW!
Rods see in black, white and shades of gray. Rods help us see the shape of things they also help us see in the dark.
Cones are sensitive to one of three colours Red, Green or blue together they let us see millions of colours. Cones need more light to work then rods. Messages are sent through the octave nerve. Messages are sent to the brain by the octave nerve, it sends messages  about what they are seeing.

How a Sea Turtles Grow into adults

Over 150 million years ago, along with the dinosaurs, there lived a species of sea turtles.  They have managed to survive longer than many other animals from the Jurassic period.  However, only 10% of sea turtles live to breeding age.  Now that humans have come along, only 1% of all sea turtles survive to breed the new generation of baby sea turtles.

The Life Cycle starts when the mother lays 50-200 leathery ping pong ball- sized eggs

Eventually the eggs will hatch into baby  sea turtles, the size of the palm of your hand. As they squirm to the water while dodging crabs, gulls ,raccoons and others predators.until they get to the sea.                         When they get to sea they trade one batch of predators for another they face sharks, dolphins, big fish and seagulls as they come up to breath, and take cover under a small patch of floating seaweed or flotsam for the next several months and avoid what may try to eat them, and not fall to the pressure of challenging and unlucky currents

ultimately the survivors will grow to adulthood over the the next several years the only worrisome predators are the large species of sharks and the odd killer whale at about twenty years the survivors will breed and carry on the life cycle that the very existence heralds.

Cross Country

The last day of training. The field was all muddy and gooey, filled with muddy puddles. i wanted to try with bare feet just this once, but boy was I sure in for a muddy run. As I stepped onto the field starting to run faster ... SPLASH! My legs were covered in oozey sticky mud. I felt like I needed to wash my feet  REALLY BADLY, but as I kept running I realized I enjoyed this and I was soon running faster and faster like a cheetah. Then I thought to myself "Oh no I have to go up that hill" now I wish I did have my shoes on. I was up to the obstacle I feared the most, the BIG steep hill. When I realized I was going TOO fast down the hill ... It was too late BANG! I banged into a tree I thought I went unconscious for a second, but I continued running trying desperately hard not to think of my muddy uniform. When I reached the gate I thought of it as sighn that I was getting closer to the finish line. Once I returned to the front line (like it was torture) I ran and ran racing up the hill then I didn't want to slip so I slowed down. When I went up the gate I went just a smigeon faster when  ran across the finish line I felt so relieved as if we won a big war. I loved every moment except for the oozey mud on my legs.

Swimming

SCREECH! that was the sound the bus door made, as it opened up.Today was another epically exciting day for... SWIMMING... I SAID SWIMMING! As we lined up my heart was pumping loudly because I was so excited, I felt like my heart was going to POP out in a couple of seconds. I quickly got changed and walked toward the doors and opened it. The teacher instructed us to put our bag down on the blue bench. We had to wait for the others to get changed, it was perfect because we also had to wait for the other class. Our swimming teacher for lane 3 said we could dive in, the funny part was I wanted to see how it felt to get pushed in the pool.So I asked someone in my group to push me and it was surprisingly very fun. Soon we started off with a simple warm up, kicking. Afterwards we started freestyle and I think I need heaps and heaps of work on freestyle! Over all I think today was a lovely day.

Swimming

Swimming

Today we went to the Millennium to go swimming. There are 4 lanes , lane 1 for beginners , lane 2 for okay , lane 3 for confident , lane 4 THE BEST! At the start I was in lane 2 then I moved up to LANE 3. So today when we went swimming we got changed and headed towards the pool, we put our bag down and DIVED IN THE POOL. Our lane began with a simple warm up we were kicking, we did 2 laps kicking to the end and to the other end. We did all sorts of swimming. After I was absolutely exhausted, we got changed again and lined up and headed back to the bus.

Around Pinehill School

One chilly morning, as I sat beside a metal pole.I could feel the cold winter breeze as it lightly brushed against me. I felt the hard concrete as I relaxed to write in my book, while birds chirped sweetly and happily. There were children running around playfully and teachers walking around happily like rabbits. The rain from last night created puddles of water which I could smell from a little distance. There was silence and every few second or minute there would be a car come by with its roaring engine. If you listen hard enough you will be able to hear a couple of birds flapping its wings. As it started to warm up you would hear the crickets buzzing loudly in the bushes.More kids came and got noisier. The sun rose up and warmth was everywhere! but some still remained wind.

mountain story

Card 2

Today my brother dared me to walk backwards and just my luck, I fell off the edge of the mountain. I couldn't believe i just accepted  that dare. I saw that my hands were all bruised they hurt so much I said to myself  "well I better start climbing" but when I did I realized my hands were bruised. I tried my best forgetting about my bruises and climbed, but every time I tried I failed. I was as mad as a bull seeing red. I get revenge on him so I tried again one last time forgetting everything pulling on the hard sharp rocks that were killing my hands.when I felt the grassy top and pulled up. Then my parents said "where have you been you missed our yummy lunch. I saw my brother hiding under the bench. my face turned into a tomato and marched towards my brother.

What if it was your birthday every day

Our teacher gave us a what if and now we have to think about what we would like about it and what we don't like about it using our 6 hats.

Positives

You would get what you wanted everyday

Everybody would treat you nicely

Party everyday with friends

You would feel happy most the time

Have cake everyday

Playing lots of games with friends

Opening presents

Negatives

Your house would get destroyed from all the partying

You might become selfish

You might become spoiled

Having lots of cake making you fat

Making lots of invitations

Parents paying for lots of things

Your friends will have to get lots and lots of presents

Other parents will have to pay again and again for presents

Friends won't get to Celebrate their birthday

I don't think that this is a good idea only a little bit because we need to care about other people and how they feel because they will not want to be your friend

P.E. Squash

This week on a Monday we played Squash for P.E. We had a coach, whose name is Manu, who came in and told us how to play. Our Teacher, Miss Mcnae, helped with one group as our coach helped us hitting the ball with the racket. The group that was with Miss Mcnae practised throwing the ball and catching it with a buddy. Then we moved on to our teacher to practise our throwing and catching.   Isabella (my friend) was my buddy. On Tuesday we went to house meetings I went to Rakino because I'm in Rakino.
